FUN FACT; Mombasa derives from the original Arabic word 'Manbaça' which means the 'the country which unfolds itself' And in Swahili it means 'Island of war'. An Arab geographer, AL Idrisi, described Manbasa as a prosperous trading town in 1151. Mombasa was a core great Island which holds history of the land overcoming many violent wars. 
Mombasa is one of the largest city-Islands in southern Kenya, in the bay of the Inland ocean.
